Double-Tube Boom

Double Tube Boom

Controlling the flow of contaminated water or other hazardous liquids is a serious problem which faces every Fire Brigade today. Erecting sandbags or earth dams is often totally ineffective.

Our basic idea has been to use the weight of water itself to make an effective and workable dam, preventing the uncontrolled outflow of liquids.

In a circle with a height of 35 cm, the double-tube can be used as a reservoir, holding up to 650.000 L.

Advantages:

  • Quick to install
  • Easy to handle
  • Versatile to be used on land & water
  • To be used as a drinking water container
  • To be used as a fire - water reservoir

Double-Tube Boom on Water

OIL spills on water are always difficult to deal with. The biggest problem is how to contain the spill in the shortest possible time.

The Double-Tube boom is an ideal tool for protection against oil in calm and flowing waters.

The large tube is filled with air and then drawn across the water and firmly anchored. No heavy pulling equipment is needed.

Once the boom is in position the small tube has to be filled with water, submerging the unit at least 18 cm into the water. A special problem connected with oil booms arises usually where they are attached to the shore.

The water filled small diameter tube easily follows any terrain. The water and air filled tubes will follow wave movements and the spilling over of the oil is virtually impossible.

The tube has a maximum length of 150 meter and a Ø of 400mm & 200mm.

Total weight: 52 Kg

High resistance to chemicals.

30 meter boom for training purposes included.

Flood Tube

NOAQ Tube Wall

Flood protection is often a race against time. To build traditional sandbag dikes takes considerable time and effort. Often the time, the labour or the materials required are not available during a flood.

The NOAQ Tube Wall is a quick, lightweight and highly effective alternative to old-fashioned dikes. Rather than relying on the weight of the wall itself for anchoring, the NOAQ tube wall utilizes the weight of the flood water for a firm seal and excellent anchoring ability.

The NOAQ tube weighs less than ½ a percent of a corresponding sandbag barrier and the tube is easily installed and handled by 2 to 4 people. The tube wall works as well on lawns and fields as on gravel roads or on asphalt. It requires minimum site preparation prior to installing.

The NOAQ Tube Wall consists of air filled tubes of reinforced plastic, interconnected to form a chain. A skirt is attached on the flood-side of each tube to anchor the system. When water starts to rise, the skirt is pressed firmly towards the ground, creating a water seal and a securing mechanism. The tubes are quickly and easily filled using a suitable air blower and just as easily deflated and stored after the flood event.

The tube wall was developed in Sweden with the support of the Swedish Rescue Services Agency and has been used successfully during numerous flood events. It has been awarded the SKAPA prize for best inventions in Sweden and in December 2002 it won first prize in BBC’s live 'Best Invention Show' The NOAQ Tube Wall comes in 10 m or 20 m sections and it has a height of 750 mm. The various sections are connected together to create the wall length required.

Emergency Door Stop

The Task

Containing contaminated water and other dangerous liquids in a closed area demands a method of closing off doorways and gateways quickly and effectively.

Often, building regulations and general production traffic prevents a permanent solution to the problem.

The Solution

A polyethylene Double-Tube-Boom, as already described, is sealed on one side in a length of 8m. On the other side, a special filling connection enables the 2 chambers to be filled simultaneously with water.

The complete system is stored in a metal container, like a fire extinguisher, fastened on the wall next to the door. For fire tenders we recommend the door boom in an aluminium container.

Geofix Tube System

How To Use It

The complete system is taken out of its holder and laid out in or on either side of the doorway, sealing out the contaminated fluids. Any unneeded material remains unrolled.

The boom is available in long or short lengths.

Connectors and sliders are also available in stainless steel. It is possible to seal off two or more doors with one length of boom.

The Mini Sealer

Is also excellent for damming off streets and driveways, or for diverting flood waters or spillage.

It saves costs on cleaning up contaminated sandbags etc.

Spill Container

The door boom used in the form of a spillage container, can hold up to 1250 L of liquids with its length of 8m.

It can be used in a variety. Highly resistant to chemicals.

Door Sealer Unit

8m Double-Boom.
Diameter 40cm and 20cm. One side sealed, the other side two tube like sections. Y-shaped filler.

Alu couplings, aluminium container.
