Who are We
Hydrex® Fire Fighting Equipment
HYDREX® - Fire Fighting
The most frequently used fire-fighting medium is still water.
The extinguishing properties of water are based primarily on its cooling effect, i.e., the combustible materials is cooled to a temperature below its ignition point. The heat removed from the source of the fire is taken up by the water and removed to a certain extent with steam.
It has been demonstrated in laboratory tests that when water is employed on its own, most of its runs away immediately.
When fighting a fire the main focus is to extinguish the blaze in as short a time as possible using minimum amount of water. On one hand we should preserve the water supply and on the other hand we should minimize water damage.
Hydrex® Fire Blocking Gel
As one of the most revolutionary fire blocking gels on the market, Hydrex® is the answer to all of your burning questions on structure protection. It’s unique formulation, coverage, shelf life and environmentally friendly composition makes Hydrex® a great tool in your arsenal for fighting fires.
The only fire blocking gel that utilizes conventional fire fighting equipment including engine tanks, hose and nozzles.
What is Hydrex®?
Hydrex® is a non-toxic, non-allergenic, non-Silicosis improved functional polymer (Sodium Polyacrylate). Hydrex’s formulation is a polymer-based mixture containing inorganic materials, which swell to a gel when combined with water resulting in the most effective and efficient fire blocking composition on the market.
Hydrex® causes the water to cling to the burning object and this effect is long lasting. The polymer surrounds the water and binds it, thus preventing it from running away or evaporating too quickly. The effectiveness of the applied water is increased many times.
Hydrex® is effective at fighting and protecting against Class A fires and can be batch mixed with any type of water (fresh, salt, warm or cold) for ground or aerial operations.
The revolutionary effect to Hydrex® has been demonstrated in large-scale tests conducted at the German Institute for Aeronautical and Space Technology using the most varied materials in simulated, realistic situations.
Hydrex® offers:
- Hydrex® increases the viscosity of water, resulting in a thermal protective cooling effect to suppress fires, Can reduce the amount of water needed to protect adjoining structures.
- Hydrex® increases the heat absorbing capacity of water up to 20 times
- Hydrex® adheres to any surface, structure, vegetation, metal and (vertical) glass by creating a reliable protective coating against radiant heat unlike foams and most liquid gel concentrates
- Hydrex® is a fine granular formulation, that has an unlimited shelf life, where liquid gel concentrates will only last up to 3-years, and there container must be agitated on a regular basis
- Hydrex® is 1/3 the cost of liquid gel concentrates (1 pound of Hydrex® treats 24 gallons of water)
- Hydrex® cover 4800 sq. ft. of vertical surface, which is five times greater than most liquid gel concentrates
- Hydrex® formulation will only allow for a 1% ratio, so you can’t ever add too much water, unlike other liquid gel concentrates that require precise measurements
- Hydrex® can be re-hydrated repeatedly on surfaces with a light mist of water
- Hydrex® is easier to clean-up and is less slippery than liquid gel concentrates because it does not contain mineral or vegetable oils
- Hydrex® doesn’t remove paint, rinses off with water (No High Pressure Needed)
- Hydrex® does not contain any carcinogen, unlike other liquid gel concentrates that have acrylamide content
- Hydrex® is an approved water additive (EN 2)
- Hydrex® will decompose to CO2 and water within a period of two weeks, unlike other liquid gel concentrates
This means in practice
- The possibility of using smaller, more maneuverable fire-fighting vehicles
- Faster, targeted containment of the source of the fire using a smaller team
- Savings in time
- Savings in water
- Reduction of damage due to use of excessive water
Hydrex® is the most effective and safest way to fight fires!
